A three-member special investigation team was on Sunday formed in connection with the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party MP-elect Kangana Ranaut, who was allegedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable on June 6 at the Chandigarh airport.

The development took place on the day when several farmer outfits including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha took out a march in Mohali in support of Kulwinder Kaur, the CISF constable who attacked the actor-turned-politician.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher asserted that it should be found out what led to the incident. There should be no injustice with the woman constable,” the leader told PTI. The farmer leaders have accused Ranaut of making provocative statements against the people of Punjab.
Ranaut, who won her first Lok Sabha election from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was allegedly slapped by Kaur at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday. The CISF constable was in a viral video heard slamming Ranaut over her remark on farmer protesters way back in 2020.
“She gave a statement that the farmers are sitting there for ₹100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement,” Kaur, who was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 323 and 341 by the Mohali Police, said.
During the 2020 farmers’ protest, Kangana Ranaut had allegedly misidentified an elderly woman at the protest as Bilkis Bano, a prominent figure from the Shaheen Bagh protests. The actor had claimed that the woman was “available for ₹100” to participate in protests.
