Terrorists attack army patrol in Badnota, Terrorists ambushed an army vehicle near Jenda drain in Barnood area of ​​Badnota in Bilwar upazila of Kathua. Five soldiers were martyred in the terrorist attack while some others were badly injured. Five soldiers injured in the terrorist attack were given first aid at Community Health Centre, Billawar and have been referred to Military Hospital, Pathankot for further treatment.

According to the information received, this army vehicle was on patrol in the area which was targeted by the terrorists. A grenade was thrown by the terrorists after that the firing started. Army soldiers also took charge and started retaliatory action.  Till the last news was received, shelling was going on from both sides. However, official confirmation of the sacrifice of soldiers has not been made.

At around 3.30 pm, terrorists hurled a grenade near Jenda drain targeting the soldiers of 22 Garhwal Rifles. It is being told that the terrorists were in a high altitude area. By the time the army soldiers could regain their composure, the terrorists had started firing indiscriminately. Taking advantage of the high altitude area, the terrorists targeted the soldiers. After which the army soldiers started retaliating. The shelling from both sides continued till late evening.

On the other hand, the Army has also included Para Commandos in the operation; they have been airlifted to the attack area. The entire area has been cordoned off by the army. On the other hand, movement of vehicles beyond Machhedi on the route from Bilwar to Badnota has also been stopped. Heavy rain and fog had started in the area in the evening. Security forces have surrounded the entire area and preparations have been made to eliminate the terrorists by conducting a major operation.


On Sunday, a soldier was also injured in the army camp in Rajouri district. That is also considered an attack. Earlier on Saturday, two encounters had started in Kulgam district which ended on Sunday. In this operation, the army had killed six terrorists while two army soldiers were also martyred. Earlier on June 26, three terrorists were killed in Doda whereas on June 9, terrorists targeted a tourist bus in Reasi district.
