Yogi Adityanath Vs Deputy Keshav Maurya? Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya met BJP national president JP Nadda in Delhi on Tuesday. The party is preparing a strategy before the by-elections to be held on 10 assembly seats in the state. According to sources, there is a possibility of major changes in the Uttar Pradesh unit of BJP as well as in the Yogi Adityanath cabinet. However, sources told India Today that there was no discussion about the change in the chief ministerial post in the meeting between Nadda and Maurya or the BJP chief and Chaudhary. These changes are expected to happen only after the by-elections in the state.

BJP UP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary also met Nadda separately in the national capital. Election Commission of India has so far declared by-polls on 10 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with his in-charge ministers. According to sources, the Chief Minister said that honest and winnable candidates will be given priority and their image and connect with the public will be given priority.

He reportedly directed for better coordination with local party workers as well as working on booth committees to strengthen the BJP as an organisation. Sources said all the ministers were directed to visit their respective constituencies and take feedback on local matters and assess the candidates.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharat Bloc comprising Samajwadi Party and Congress won 43 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, while the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was limited to 36. NDA won 64 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting between Keshav Maurya and JP Nadda came amid discussions over differences with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Last week, Maurya had made headlines by remarking that “the organization is always bigger than the government” at the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh Working Committee meeting in Lucknow.

During his address at the same meeting, Yogi Adityanath had blamed “overconfidence” for hurting the BJP’s hopes and hopes in the Lok Sabha elections.

In private conversations, several BJP leaders, who lost the Lok Sabha elections in the state, have criticized Adityanath’s working style and termed it as one of the reasons for his defeat in the elections, news agency PTI reported.

On Tuesday, Keshav Maurya met Nadda for an hour, after which Bhupendra Chaudhary met the BJP president separately. It is being told that in the meeting held with the leaders, the focus was on reducing tension between the party and the Uttar Pradesh government.

 

Nadda told both Maurya and Chaudhary that under no circumstances should any leader make such a statement regarding coordination between the BJP and the Uttar Pradesh government which would harm the interests of the party. Both the groups have been asked to remain united. The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh refused to comment on the meeting while leaving the BJP headquarters in Delhi.


 Akhilesh Yadav’s sarcasm on BJP

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, taking a dig at the BJP, said that the party is now doing the same kind of politics internally as it used to do with other parties earlier.

Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “Governance and administration in UP has come to a standstill due to BJP’s fight for power. The politics of sabotage that BJP used to do with other party earlier is now doing the same thing within its own party. That’s why “BJP is sinking into the quagmire of internal strife. There is no one in BJP who thinks about the people.”

Today in a press conference, he reiterated his sarcasm and said that there is internal strife in the Uttar Pradesh government. Akhilesh Yadav said that the decisions taken by the Yogi Adityanath-led government have been taken in haste.

The Samajwadi Party chief told reporters, “They (BJP government in UP) have destroyed the entire administration in the fight for the chair. The chief minister himself is admitting that there is a breakdown. His MLAs are now speaking openly. “He said that the BJP government in the state has become weak.
