Sheikh Hasina blamed USA of regime change in Bangladesh

Sheikh Hasina blamed USA, Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has blamed America for the downfall of her government. Hasina has alleged that she was ousted from power because she did not hand over the island of St. Martin to the US, which would have enabled it to establish its dominance in the Bay of Bengal. He has appealed to the Bangladeshi citizens not to get misled by the fundamentalists. Let us tell you that Sheikh Hasina is currently in India.


In a message sent to the media addressed to the Bangladeshi people through her close aides, Hasina said, ‘I resigned so that I do not have to see a pile of dead bodies. They wanted to come to power over the dead bodies of students, but I did not allow this, I resigned from the post of Prime Minister. I could have remained in power if I had surrendered the sovereignty of the island of St. Martin to the United States and allowed it to establish its dominance in the Bay of Bengal. I request the people of my country; please do not get misled by fundamentalists.

“I could have remained in power if I had surrendered the sovereignty of Saint Martin Island and allowed America to hold sway over the Bay of Bengal,” Hasina stated, urging her countrymen not to be manipulated by radical elements. Saint Martin Island, a small 3-square-kilometer landmass in the Bay of Bengal, is situated near the southern tip of Bangladesh.

Hasina expressed deep sorrow over the violence and unrest that followed her resignation on August 5, amid growing student protests against the controversial quota system for government jobs. The unrest, which included killings, harassment, and vandalism, led to concerns for Hasina’s safety, prompting her to leave Dhaka on a military aircraft. She is currently under protection at an undisclosed location in India.

“My heart cries upon receiving news that many leaders have been killed, workers are being harassed, and their homes are subjected to vandalism and arson. With the grace of almighty Allah, I will return soon”.

There was US pressure for anti-China initiative 

Awami League leaders have alleged that American diplomats were pressurizing Sheikh Hasina to take initiative against China. One of Hasina’s party leaders accused US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas of favoring the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Haas completed his term in July. The US government was continuously criticizing Sheikh Hasina and her party regarding human rights and election process.  The US State Department said in a statement in January this year -It was said that the general elections held in Bangladesh were not free and fair because not all parties participated in it.
