According to an official release by the Navy, INS Sumedha intercepted FV ‘Al Qanbar’ early Friday and was later joined by missile frigate INS Trishul in the operation. The pirates were forced to surrender after an operation that lasted more than 12 hours. There were about nine pirates aboard the ship. At the time of the incident, the Iranian ship was 90 nm south west of Socotra. Indian Navy said that we do not care about nationality for maritime security. We are committed to maritime security.
