Punjab Kings won the toss and invited Gujarat Titans to bat first. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill came to open for GT and Harpreet Brar had a first over for PBK. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill had a 29-run partnership for the first wicket. In the third over, Kagiso Rabada bowled fuller fuller-length delivery on the stumps to Wriddhiman Saha who closed the face of the bat quickly the ball took the leading edge of the bat and Shikar Dhawan took a simple catch at mid-off. Wriddhiman Saha scored 11 runs off 13 balls.

Kane Williamson playing his first match of this season. Kane Williamson and Shubman Gill had a 40-run partnership for the second wicket.
