Indian Women Hockey Team Lost 1-0 Against Japan. India fails to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Indian Women’s hockey team failed to qualify for the Olympics for the first time since 2016. This is a huge blow for India, as they will not be able to follow up on their semifinal finish at the Tokyo Olympics. Japan won the Bronze Medal in the FIH women’s Olympics qualifiers in Ranchi.

The Japanese team scored a goal in the first quarter of this match and maintained a lead throughout the match. Japanese coach Jude Menezes before the match said “Scoring first will be of big help (to quieten the crowd). But we want to focus on our game”. Indian Women Hockey Team Lost 1-0 Against Japan for third place in the FIH women’s Olympics qualifiers

The Japanese team started this match positively Indian team still in toll of the semi-final lost against Germany in a shootout. Deepika and Sonika tried to score a goal for the Indian team but their efforts were wide from the target.

The first quarter of the match ended with a scoreline of 1-0. In the very first minute of the second quarter, the Japanese side won another penalty corner as an Indian foot hit the ball in the circle. A misinjection by Japan sees Savita save the ball with ease and speed. A Few minutes later, the Indian team won the penalty corner but Deepika’s flick was saved by Hazuki Nagai.

In the 4th minute of the second quarter, India won another penalty corner due to the ball making contact with Amiru Shimada’s leg in a box. This time Deepika’s effort is blocked by the Tanaka, as the ball hits the bar and goes out. India tried to score a goal from the long corner Deepika attacked using the left flank but the Japanese defense line kept the ball away from the penalty box. Indian team tried to attack but the Japanese defensive unit intercepted their passes. The second quarter of the game ended with Japan still leading with a one-goal advantage.

In the third quarter of the game Indian team desperately looking for a goal but the Japanese makes tackles and interception keeping the Indian team away from their box in the middle of the third quarter Indian team won another penalty corner Deepika’s shot was saved by the Goalkeeper Eika Nakamura. Indian team won two other penalty corners, but their energy seemed low they were not able to convert penalty corners into a goal.

In the fourth quarter of the game Indian team wasted many chances and the Japanese team was a more composed side they defended 9 penalty corners in the whole match.
