In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Dimple Yadav contested from Kannauj on SP ticket. Although. She lost the election to BJP’s Subrata Pathak. Before Kannauj, Akhilesh Yadav had announced to make his nephew Tej Pratav Yadav a candidate.
Samajwadi Party (SP) said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday evening, “Akhilesh Yadav ji will file nomination papers as Samajwadi Party candidate from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat tomorrow at 12 noon.

Now it is believed that Akhilesh is contesting the elections to regain his stronghold.
Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat this time. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, senior leaders Ram Gopal Yadav and Shivpal Singh Yadav were present at the time of Dimple’s nomination. After filing nomination, SP chief Yadav while talking to journalists claimed that Samajwadi Party is going to win the Mainpuri elections this time with a record number of votes.
Samajwadi Party is contesting on most of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP. It has got 63 seats under the agreement with Congress. The Congress party will contest on 17 seats, including its family strongholds Amethi and Rae Bareli. Voting will be held in each of the seven phases of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in UP.
