Dev Patel controversial film Monkey Man awaits release in India
Due to most of the administrative machinery of the country being busy with the Lok Sabha elections and the continuous holidays for the last fortnight, the release date of actor and director Dev Patel’s much talked about film ‘Monkey Man’ in India has not been decided yet. In the film ‘Monkey Man’, which is full of excessive violence, the mention of Hindu Gods and Goddesses from the perspective of Western countries is also a big obstacle in the path of the film. According to the information, till now the film has not received the censor certificate.

To be released in Indian theatres, every foreign film has to apply to the Central Board of Film Certification, commonly known as the Censor Board. Universal Pictures has been desperate to release the film ‘Monkey Man’ in India for a long time and its local officials have even submitted the film to the Censor Board with the necessary documents. But, Censor Board sources say that this film has not been seen by the examining committee yet.
But, Censor Board sources say that this film has not been seen by the examining committee yet. It is even said that a committee is yet to be formed for this.

Only after the examining committee watches the film, a film gets a censor certificate according to its story and its point of view. The trailer of the film ‘Monkey Man‘ is full of violence and it is believed that this film will be released in India with an ‘Adults Only’ certificate. Although the film ‘Animal’ has achieved record success in India for its violent scenes, the film ‘Monkey Man’ has more problems. and, the problem being mentioned above all is the reference to Hindu Gods and Goddesses.
It was also rumoured that the film ‘Monkey Man’ has been banned in India. Britain-based Indian-origin actor Dev Patel is not only acting in this film but is also directing it. This is his first film as a director. The film has been released in many other countries of the world including America. But, the way for the film’s release in India has not been cleared yet. Since the Censor Board has not seen the film yet, it is not right to deny the film a censor certificate.
Even the officials of Universal Pictures are not in a position to say anything at the moment about when the film ‘Monkey Man’ will be released in India. The distributors want to prepare for the promotion of the film according to the censor certificate it gets. Apart from Dev Patel, many other Indian actors are included in the film. Shobhita Dhulipala has been continuously talking about this film. Vipin Sharma, Makrand Deshpande and Sikandar Kher are also playing important roles in the film.
