Political crisis deepens on government in Haryana, 3 independent MLAs withdraw support

Political crisis deepens on government in Haryana, 3 independent MLAs withdraw support. The ruling BJP government in Haryana has suffered a major setback amid the Lok Sabha elections. Due to this, three independent MLAs on Tuesday announced that they have withdrawn their support to the Nayab Singh Saini-led government in the state. Three MLAs Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Golen and Dharampal Gondar also said that they have decided to support Congress during the elections.

The three MLAs made this announcement at a press conference held in Rohtak in the presence of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress chief Uday Bhan. Independent MLA Gondar said, “We are withdrawing support from the government. We are giving our support to the Congress. We have taken this decision on various issues including issues related to farmers.

Speaking at the press conference, state Congress chief Uday Bhan said, “Three independent MLAs – Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Singh Golen and Dharampal Gondar have withdrawn their support from the BJP government and extended their support to the Congress. I also want to say that The current strength of the (90-member) Haryana Assembly is 88, out of which the BJP has 40 members. Earlier, the BJP government had the support of JJP MLAs and independent MLAs, but JJP had also withdrawn its support and now independents are also supporting it.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while demanding President’s rule in Haryana, claimed that the BJP government has fallen short of the magic figure. On March 12 itself, Naib Singh Saini took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana. On March 13, a no-confidence motion was brought by Bhupendra Singh Hooda. Therefore, now technically the no-confidence motion cannot be brought till September 13. Despite being in minority, BJP remains the largest party.

There are total 90 assembly seats in Haryana. The magic number here is 46. That means any party needs at least 46 MLAs to form the government. But two seats in the state are currently vacant, so the magic figure remains 45. To understand this, we need to pay attention to the numbers; BJP has 40 of its own MLAs. Apart from these, BJP also has the support of 2 independents and 1 MLA from Haryana Lokhit Party (Gopal Kanda). In this sense, BJP government has the support of 43 MLAs.

Talking about the MLAs of Congress and other parties, Congress has 30 MLAs, while 3 independent MLAs have also announced their support.

Apart from this, JJP has 10 MLAs. One MLA is from INLD. Apart from this, one more independent MLA remains. If sources are to be believed, he may also support Congress. Congress claims that at present the BJP government is in minority.
