Additional public prosecutor Atul Srivastava, representing Delhi Police, had opposed the application, arguing that the timing of the request was strategic and intended to prolong the case. He had stressed the possible legal implications of reopening the investigation at this stage.

Counsel for the complainants had criticized the application as a tactic to delay the proceedings. He argued that the necessary documents should have been procured earlier under Section 207 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which deals with communication of evidence to the accused.

Let us tell you that after the court order, BJP MP Brajbhushan Singh while talking to the media said that prima facie the court has framed the charge. Charge sheet was filed, I protested. The court did not agree, I am against the order of the judiciary.
