Atlanta 3-0 Bayer Leverkusen, In Dublin Ireland Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen tasted their first defeat this season in the finals of the UEFA Europa League. After 51 games, their pursuit of a flawless season came to an end at the penultimate hurdle as an Ademola Lookman hat-trick, the first in a one-legged European final since Pierino Prati in 1969, gave Atalanta a surprisingly comprehensive victory and their first trophy in 61 years.
Gian Piero Gasperini won the silverware. His team defeated Jurgen Klopp Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield in the Quarter Finals and then his team defeated Marseille 3-0 in the home leg of the semi-final; nobody can say this was not deserved.

After the Victory in the finals Gian Piero Gasperini said “It was just extraordinary. We defeated Liverpool, Sporting [Lisbon] who won the championship. When we faced Liverpool, they were first in the Premier League. And now the German champions. Incredible. The boys were extraordinary, a memorable performance.”
