Rameshwaram Cafe is a famous cafe in Bengaluru. This café is located in the Brookfield area of ​​Whitefield, which is the city’s business center and famous tech hub. The IED blast here reminded people of the German Bakery incident in Pune. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, ‘CCTV footage is being examined. It is being said that this is an IED blast. Investigation is going on. The cashier of the cafe is being questioned because a person took the token from the cashier and had the food…he was the one who had kept the bag.


Preliminary investigation has revealed that the alleged attacker is a 25-30 year old man. “He is seen getting down from a bus near the restaurant and walking into it,” said a senior police officer, who examined the footage from CCTV cameras installed in the restaurant and surrounding areas. There was a mask on his face. He came to the cafe. Here he paid at the cash counter and took a token for Rava Idli. After eating idli, he left a bag near the dustbin and went out.

The blast accused spent about 7 minutes in the stage. The bomb exploded about an hour after they came out. It is being told that in this blast, a timer bomb was used. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the CCB has been entrusted with the investigation and is hopeful of arresting the accused in a day or two.

Shivakumar said eight teams have been formed to identify and arrest the suspect. The picture of the accused is being created with the help of AI on the basis of the picture captured in CCTV footage.

Edison, an eyewitness, said, ‘I was waiting for my turn outside the cafe, when suddenly we heard a loud explosion. We were scared of what happened. There were about 35-40 people in the café. Everyone started running outside and there was chaos. Everyone was saying that the cylinder burst, but we don’t know what actually happened?

Amrit, who works in a nearby company, said, ‘I was waiting outside the cafe after ordering and the blast happened? We saw the injured. The ambulance arrived within a short time. The police saved the people.


Security guard Ramesh was standing near the entry gate of Rameshwaram Cafe when the blast occurred inside. Ramesh said that he did not hear anything for the next 15 minutes of the blast. I looked around and saw that the place was filled with smoke. While some people were running here and there, some were on the floor. I didn’t understand what was happening.

Shabarish, an employee of a local firm, said, ‘We colleagues had planned lunch and were waiting for some others to arrive. Suddenly, we were all shaken by a loud noise. Soon, the entire restaurant area was filled with thick black smoke and people were struggling to get out.

Some of us ran towards the restaurant and saw that small pieces of the granite floor had been torn off and hit the glass panels and wall. Some customers and employees were bleeding. We arranged for an auto and took him to the hospital.

Amrit, an admin officer at a nearby software firm, said he miraculously escaped. He said, ‘I was waiting for my friends in the hotel after ordering dosa. As I moved away from the counter and approached the coffee/tea counter, I heard a loud noise from behind. Looking back I saw that there was thick smoke in the entire area, people were running away.

Sachin Lamani, another guard at the hotel, said, ‘Despite the dense smoke, some of us managed to enter the hotel and 4-5 people, including its staff, were rescued. Saw people injured. One woman was bleeding from her right shoulder where shards of glass had pierced her.

Our staff at the parcel counter also suffered injuries and were bleeding from their ears. “We were near the billing counter placing the order,” said Adeboye, an accountant and customer. We heard a big explosion from a corner…people were in complete shock and screaming for help. Some people came out of the hotel, collided with each other and fell down.
