Bhutan’s highest civilian honor for Prime Minister Narendra Modi; became the first foreign head of state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Bhutan today on a two-day visit. PM Modi will be in Bhutan on March 22-23 on an official visit. PM Modi’s plane took off from Delhi for Bhutan this morning. PM Modi has been awarded Bhutan’s highest civilian honour. PM Modi is the first foreign head of state to achieve this distinction.

Home Minister Amit Shah lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being awarded Bhutan’s highest civilian award, ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo’. He posted on social media congratulating PM Modi, calling it a fitting praise for the man whose diplomatic vision has propelled India into the role of a strong but compassionate nation in the world. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also congratulated PA Modi. He wrote in his post, PM Modi is the first foreign person to be awarded this honour. On PM Modi being awarded the country’s highest civilian award, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay said, ‘On behalf of the entire country, on behalf of all Bhutanese people, I would like to congratulate PM Modi on receiving Bhutan’s highest civilian award. Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhutan, the Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘Today in Thimphu, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay hosted a lunch in the honor of PM Modi. During the meeting between the two, many points were discussed. Prime Minister Modi thanked Prime Minister Tobgay for his extraordinary welcome. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the local people greeted PM Modi during his journey from Paro to Thimphu.
