PM Rishi Sunak surprised everyone on Wednesday by announcing that general elections will be held on July 4.

Rishi Sunak, 44, announced the date of the general election on Wednesday while drenched in rain on the steps of the PM’s residence, 10 Downing Street. Sunak launched his election campaign from East London on Thursday. During the election campaign, Sunak is giving the slogan of ‘Clear planning, bold action and a secure future’. He said that ‘for the next few weeks they will fight for every vote.’


Labor Party leader Keir Starmer has given the slogan of ‘change’. Starmer said, ‘On July 4, we have a chance to stop this chaos. ‘We can turn the page and make a fresh start, rebuild Britain and transform this country.’ Elections were to be held in Britain in January next year and it was expected that Sunak would not announce the election date before October, but on Wednesday Sunak surprised everyone by announcing the date of the general elections.

In all pre-election surveys, the opposition Labor Party is in a strong position and the Labor Party has a significant lead over the Conservative Party. In such a situation, it was believed that even if Sunak had postponed the announcement of general elections till October, he would not have got much benefit.
