The Chandigarh Police made another arrest in the Sector-5 firing incident reported in the morning hours of January 19. The accused was identified as Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Dera Bassi, and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession late Tuesday evening. This is the seventh arrest made by the police in the case as six accused were arrested earlier.

This gangster wanted 2 crore extortion money from businessman Kuldeep Singh. Kuldeep Singh made a complaint to the police and reported that at 4.14 am on January 19, some unknown persons fired at his residence to extort money from him. Later, on the same day, he received a call on WhatsApp from an international number and the caller demanded ₹2 crore from him.
Who is Goldy Brar?
Goldy Brar’s real name is Satinderjeet Brar. Goldy Brar was born in Muktsar village Gulabewala in Punjab, India. Goldy Brar is wanted in connection with a number of serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, and drug trafficking by Indian authorities. He was associated with Lawrence Bishnoi, another gangster of Punjabi origin who is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, Delhi.
In 2022, the Faridkot court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him for killing District Youth Congress President, Gurlal Singh Pehalwan. After that, on 29 May 2022, he allegedly killed an Indian singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala, according to a Facebook post sent by Brar taking responsibility for the shooting.
India Government issued a red-corner notice against him, which means that he can be arrested and extradited from any country that is a member of Interpol. Brar is accused of conspiring with others to acquire and supply illegal firearms and using those firearms to commit murder and attempt murder.
India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) cited his association with Babbar Khalsa International (a listed terrorist organization), involvement in killings, cross-border activities, arms smuggling, and threatening calls. This move underscores Brar’s perceived threat to national security. Brar has been named among the top 25 most wanted fugitives by the BOLO, which has offered a reward of $50,000 for information leading to Goldy Brar’s arrest.
Who is Lawrence Bishnoi?
Lawrence Bishnoi was born in the village of Ferozpur, Punjab India, Bishnoi studied in Abohar until the 12th grade in 2010 when he moved to Chandigarh to DAV College. He joined the Panjab University Campus Students Council in 2011, where he met Goldy Brar, another gangster. They became involved in university politics and began committing crimes. Lawrence Bishnoi completed his LLB from Panjab University.
Lawrence Bishnoi gang is involved in killing Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala who was shot dead in Mansa, Punjab. Hours after the assassination, responsibility for the shooting was claimed by Goldy Brar, who claimed that he had engineered the plot with Bishnoi. Police suggested that Bishnoi’s gang was involved in the shooting. At the time of the shooting, he was in Tihar Jail. On 21 September 2023, Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the killing of khalistani separatist Sukhdool Singh Gill aka Sukha Duneke.
The Bishnoi gang is allegedly working with 700 shooters across 5 states in India with a reach outside India as well. National Investigation Agency (NIA) report revealed Bishnoi’s and his associate Goldy Brar’s link to Pro-Khalistan outfits. On 5 December 2023, President of Karni Sena Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead in Jaipur. responsibility for the shooting was claimed by Rohit Godara, a member of Bishnoi gang.
