Congress Candidate Sucharita Mohanty from Puri Lok Sabha withdraws his nomination. Another Congress candidate has refused to contest the elections. In fact, Sucharita Mohanty, Congress candidate from Puri Lok Sabha seat of Odisha, has withdrawn her name citing financial reasons. Earlier, the Congress candidate from Indore had also withdrawn his name after nomination. The nomination of the Congress candidate for Surat Lok Sabha seat was cancelled.
Sucharita Mohanty on Saturday returned the Congress party ticket and claimed that she has not been given any money by the party to contest the elections. Sucharita Mohanty has sent an email to Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, in which she wrote that she is returning the MP ticket. According to media reports, Sucharita Mohanty wrote that our election campaign on Puri Lok Sabha seat has been badly affected because the party refused to give me funding for the elections. Odisha Congress in-charge Dr. Ajoy Kumar asked me to bear the expenses of the election campaign myself.

On returning the Congress ticket, Sucharita Mohanty said, ‘I returned the party ticket because the party is not able to give me funds. Also, the second reason is that the candidates who won on 7 assembly seats of Puri Lok Sabha have not been given tickets. Some weak candidates have been given tickets. In such a situation, I cannot contest this election.
Sucharita Mohanty wrote that she was a working journalist, who became active in politics only 10 years ago. I put all my strength into the election campaign and also tried to take donations from people for the election campaign, but was not successful in that too. I also appealed to the central leadership of the party to make necessary funding from the party fund so that effective campaigning can be done in the entire Lok Sabha seat.
