Delhi HC reserved the decision, A bench of Justice Subramaniam Prasad has completed the hearing on AAP’s petition related to allotment of space for party offices in view of the Delhi High Court gaining recognition as a national party. The court has also reserved the decision.
Senior lawyer of Aam Aadmi Party said that the Supreme Court has ordered the party to vacate the current office located at Rouse Avenue by June 15. He said that the party should be temporarily allotted a space on Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Marg. The court is likely to pronounce its verdict on the matter of allotting temporary space on June 5.
The AAP had filed two separate petitions last year requesting allotment of a plot of land or a dwelling unit on license basis in the national capital for its office in view of its recognized national party status. While reserving the decision regarding the temporary location, the court has listed the petition related to land allotment for hearing on July 10.

Senior lawyer Rahul Mehra said that a national party is entitled to a temporary office until it is given land to construct a permanent party office and in the present case an AAP government minister was selling his office at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg for the party. He said that in view of the current circumstances, if this plot situated on DDU Marg is given to the Aam Aadmi Party, then the Central Government will not have any objection
The central government’s lawyer said that the land will be allotted from the general pool and there is no special list for political parties. He said AAP was offered land for its offices in 2014 but it was not accepted and currently, it is not possible to allot a housing unit from the pool. As far as the DDU route unit is concerned, he stressed that it will have to be returned to the government.
