Delhi liquor policy case: Arvind Kejriwal in ED lockup after arrest, Delhi CM in 10 days ED remand

Delhi liquor policy case, ED team arrested CM Kejriwal on Thursday evening. ED has taken this action against the CM after 2 hours of interrogation in the liquor scam. Earlier on Thursday evening itself, ED had reached the CM’s residence with the tenth summons for questioning. Let us tell you that Kejriwal did not get any relief even from Delhi High Court.

CM Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested in the alleged liquor scam of Delhi. After sending 9 consecutive summons, the ED team reached Kejriwal’s house on Thursday evening with the 10th summons. The CM was interrogated for two hours at his residence here. During this time, ED Joint Director Kapil Raj was also present at Kejriwal’s residence. Kejriwal’s statement was recorded under Section 50 of PMLA.

ED investigating officer Jogendra was interrogating CM Kejriwal. According to sources, his house was also searched. Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s legal team had filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order.

Meanwhile, Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj also reached outside Kejriwal’s house and said that preparations are being made to arrest Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann posted on Twitter saying, ‘BJP’s political team (ED) cannot arrest Kejriwal’s thinking… because only AAP can stop BJP… thinking can never be suppressed.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been sent on Enforcement Directorate remand for seven days by Rouse Avenue Court. Kejriwal will now be presented in the court on March 28. However, 10 days remand was sought by ED. Kejriwal was arrested by ED from his house yesterday in the liquor policy case, after which he was produced in Rouse Avenue Court today.

The lawyers appearing on behalf of Kejriwal in the court had applied to reject the remand application; however the court did not accept their arguments. During the hearing in the court, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing on behalf of Kejriwal, said that ED should prove why there is a need to arrest Kejriwal. Meanwhile, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju said during the hearing that there is strong evidence that scam and fraud have taken place. At the same time, when three lawyers appeared on behalf of Kejriwal, ED expressed its protest.

After the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, ED sought 10 days’ remand from the court and said that there is a history of destroying a large number of electronic evidence in this case. A large number of phones have been destroyed. Despite this, ED has conducted an excellent investigation. ED said that the prosecution case has been examined and the Supreme Court has upheld it.

The Supreme Court examined all these things and refused to grant bail to Manish Sisodia. There are many layers of investigation; we have to get to the bottom of this matter. That is why Kejriwal’s remand is necessary. ED said that the accused will not decide whether arrest is required or not. It entirely depends on the discretion of the investigating officer as to when he needs to make an arrest.

The ASG said that there is strong evidence that scam and fraud have taken place. Excise policy was changed for AAP to raise funds for Goa elections.
