Earlier, during the hearing on May 7, the Supreme Court had told the ED that elections come every 5 years, this is an extraordinary situation. If we grant bail to Kejriwal, our condition will be that he will not interfere in the work of the government.

Kejriwal is lodged in Tihar jail since April 1 in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. He is not able to campaign. Lok Sabha elections are to be held in Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bastion Delhi on May 25 and Punjab on June 1.

ED had arrested Kejriwal on March 21 in the liquor policy case. ED produced him in Rouse Avenue Court on March 22. The court sent Delhi CM on ED remand till March 28, which was later extended till April 1. On April 1, the court had sent him to Tihar Jail in judicial custody till April 15. He is in jail then.

In the liquor policy case, summons were sent to Kejriwal on 27 February, 26 February, 22 February, 2 February, 17 January, 3 January this year and on 21 December and 2 November in 2023.

However, he did not go for questioning even once. After not getting relief from the lower court and the High Court, Kejriwal has reached the Supreme Court.
