According to the PMO, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Haryana section of Dwarka Expressway on this occasion. This will help in improving traffic and reducing congestion between Delhi and Gurugram on National Highway 48.
It will also provide direct connectivity to IGI Airport in Delhi and Gurugram Bypass. Other major projects the Prime Minister will inaugurate are the 9.6-km six-lane urban expansion plan from Nangloi-Najafgarh Road to Sector 24 Dwarka stretch in Delhi.
While there are three packages of Lucknow Ring Road in Uttar Pradesh at a cost of about Rs 4,600 crore, Anandapuram-Pendurthy-Anakapalle section project of NH 16 in Andhra Pradesh.
Kiratpur to Nerchowk section of NH-21 in Himachal Pradesh, Dobaspet-Hescote section in Karnataka (two packages) and 42 other projects worth Rs 20,500 crore are included in various states. The PMO said that these projects will boost economic growth and are also in line with our efforts to build next generation infrastructure. Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of various National Highway projects across the country.
All about Haryana section of Dwarka Expressway
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Haryana section of Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram today. This eight-lane high-speed expressway is the country’s first elevated highway. After its launch, there will be relief from traffic jam between Delhi and Gurugram. The Haryana section of this expressway includes two packages. Of these, the first ROB from Delhi-Haryana border to Basai will be 10.2 km long and the second from Basai ROB to Kherki Daula will be 8.7 km long.
The country’s first elevated urban expressway is the first single-pillar flyover with eight lanes. Its entire part has been prepared at a cost of about Rs 9,000 crore. About 19 kilometers of the expressway is in Haryana, while the remaining 10 kilometers is in Delhi.

This high-speed expressway starts from Shiv-Murti on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. It passes through Dwarka Sector-21, Gurugram Border and Basai in Delhi and ends near Khedki Daula Toll Plaza.
There will be four multi-level interchanges on this expressway. It includes a tunnel or underpass, an at-grade road section, an elevated flyover and a flyover over a flyover. The eight-lane, 9-kilometer-long, 34-meter-wide elevated road on a single pillar is the first of its kind in the country.
It also includes the country’s longest and widest (eight-lane) urban tunnel of 3.6 kilometers. After completion of the work, it will also facilitate access to the upcoming India International Convention Center (IICC) in Dwarka Sector-25, Delhi. With this, IGI will also be able to reach the airport through a tunnel. Apart from Sector-21, it also connects Sector-88, 83, 84, 99, 113 of Dwarka to Global City in Gurugram. The expressway is fully equipped with safety mechanisms. The toll collection system here is completely automatic.
This construction has been planned in four phases. First, from Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur to Bijwasan in Delhi region (5.9 km), second, from Bijwasan ROB to Delhi-Haryana border in Gurugram (4.2 km), third from Delhi-Haryana border to Basai ROB in Haryana (10.2 km) and fourth from Basai ROB to Kherki Daula (Cloverleaf Interchange) (8.7 km). 2 lakh metric tons of steel (30 times the steel used in the Eiffel Tower) has been used in its preparation.
Apart from this, it is estimated that 20 lakh cubic meters of concrete (6 times the concrete used in Burj Khalifa) will be consumed.
