Iran’s IRGC attacks the Mossad spy center in Missile Attack

Iran has in the past sometimes carried out strikes in Iraq’s northern Kurdistan region, but this time Iran’s IRGC attacks the Mossad spy, saying the area is used as a staging ground for Iranian separatist groups as well as agents of its arch-foe Israel.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched overnight missile strikes on anti-Iranian terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria amid a raging war in Israel. The ‘revenge’ attacks targeted MOSSAD HQ, the Israeli spy center in Iraq, and Islamic State group targets in Syria. Several ballistic missiles were fired from Iran, some of which landed near the U.S. embassy in Erbil.

The attacks come after twin bombings in Kerman near Gen. Qassem Soleimani’s tomb, for which ISIS claimed responsibility and the killing of an IRGC commander in an Israeli air strike. The U.S. slammed Iranian attacks as ‘reckless.’

Explosions were heard in an area some 40 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of Erbil in the Kurdistan region, three security sources said, in a neighborhood near the US consulate as well as civilian residences.

Iraqi officials report 4 civilians killed in strikes that the Revolutionary Guards describe as a response to Israel’s recent ‘martyring IRGC and resistance commanders’

Multimillionaire Kurdish businessman Peshraw Dizayee and several members of his family were among the dead, killed when at least one rocket crashed into their home, Iraqi security and medical sources said.

Dizayee, who was close to the ruling Barzani clan, owned businesses that led major real estate projects in Kurdistan.

Additionally, one rocket had fallen on the house of a senior Kurdish intelligence official and another on a Kurdish intelligence center, the security sources said.

Reuters could not independently verify any of the reports. Israeli government officials were not reachable for immediate comment.

Air traffic at Erbil airport was halted, the security sources said.

All about IRGC

The IRGC, or Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, is a branch of the Iranian Armed Forces. It was established after the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and is tasked with safeguarding the Islamic Republic of Iran and its revolutionary principles. While Iran considers the IRGC a defensive force, some countries, including the United States, designate it as a terrorist organization due to its involvement in various activities, including support for militant groups and alleged destabilizing actions in the region.

What is Mossad?

The Mossad is the national intelligence agency of Israel. Its full name is the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations, and it is one of the key components of Israel’s intelligence community. Mossad is responsible for intelligence gathering, covert operations, and counterterrorism.

Mossad was officially established in 1949, shortly after the creation of the State of Israel. It was created to address the country’s intelligence needs and protect national security.

The primary mission of Mossad is to collect intelligence, conduct covert operations, and counter potential threats to Israel, including terrorism and the development of weapons of mass destruction by hostile nations.

Mossad has been involved in various high-profile operations throughout its history, including the capture of Adolf Eichmann, one of the architects of the Holocaust, in 1960. The agency has also played a role in thwarting terrorist activities and acquiring intelligence on regional and global threats.

Mossad operates with a high degree of secrecy, and much of its work is classified. The agency is known for its ability to carry out covert operations and intelligence gathering with a focus on protecting Israel’s national interests.

The head of Mossad is known as the Director. The identity of the Mossad director is typically classified, and the agency’s leadership reports directly to the Prime Minister of Israel.

It’s important to note that due to the secretive nature of intelligence agencies, much of the information about Mossad’s activities and operations is not publicly disclosed. The agency has been the subject of various books, movies, and conspiracy theories, adding to its mystique and intrigue in popular culture.
