Jyotiraditya Scindia’s mother Rajmata Madhavi passes away. Madhavi Raje Scindia, mother of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, died on the morning of Wednesday, May 15. She breathed her last at 9.28 am today at Delhi AIIMS. The queen mother of the Scindia family was on ventilator in AIIMS for the last few days. Recently, just before the third phase of voting, the queen mother of the Scindia family was admitted to Delhi AIIMS due to her deteriorating health.


70 year old Madhavi Raje was ill for a long time. Madhavi Raje Scindia is originally from Nepal. His family has been associated with the royal family there. Her grandfather Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana has also been the PM of Nepal. Before marriage, her name was Princess Kiran Rajyalakshmi Devi. In 1966, she was married to Prince Madhavrao Scindia of the Scindia royal family of Gwalior. As per Marathi tradition, her name changed after marriage and her new name became Madhavi Raje Scindia. Earlier she was called Maharani, but, after the death of Madhavrao, she started being called Rajmata.
