Lok Sabha Election Dates Live updates: Voting to commence on April 19, will be held in 7 phases, results will be out on June 4.
Along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections of four states have also been announced. Apart from this, by-elections will also be held for 26 assembly seats. Voting for the Lok Sabha elections will begin on April 19 and end on June 1. All the results will come together on June 4.
The Election Commission has announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases from April 19. Counting of votes will take place on June 4. Along with the Lok Sabha elections, there will also be by-elections for 26 assembly seats.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the election dates in a press conference here. Along with this, the Commission said that assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will be held on 19 April and assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh on 13 May. Apart from this, Odisha Assembly elections will be held in four phases on 13 May, 20 May, 25 May and 1 June.
The Chief Election Commissioner, along with two new election commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, told a press conference that voting will be held in all seven phases in Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

First phase: Voting will be held on 102 seats in 21 states and union territories on April 19.
Second phase: Voting will be held on 89 seats in 13 states and union territories on April 26.
Third phase: Voting will be held in 94 constituencies of 12 states and union territories on May 7.
Fourth phase: Voting will be held in 96 constituencies across 10 states on May 13.
Fifth phase: Voting will be held on 49 seats in eight states and union territories on May 20.
Sixth phase: Voting will be held on 57 seats in seven states and union territories on May 25.
Seventh phase: Voting will be held on 57 seats in eight states and union territories on June 1.

By-elections will also be held on 26 seats in 13 states.
Rajiv Kumar said that along with the Lok Sabha elections, voting will also be held for 26 assembly seats in 13 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Gujarat. Voting for by-elections will be held on the same dates of Lok Sabha elections in the respective states. Among these, Himachal has maximum six seats, Gujarat has five and Uttar Pradesh has four.
Elections were announced on March 10 in 2019
The last time the dates for Lok Sabha elections were announced was on March 10, 2019. At that time voting was held in seven phases in the country. The first round of voting took place on 11 April, while the seventh, i.e. the last round of voting took place on 19 May. The counting of votes took place on 23 May.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that complete preparations have been made to conduct the elections in a fair, transparent and peaceful manner. Before announcing the dates, the Commission visited all the states and took stock of the situation and accordingly other preparations have been made along with the voting dates. He said that this time there are about 97 crore voters, for whom 10.5 lakh polling stations have been made. 1.5 crore election officers have been deployed to conduct the voting smoothly.
55 lakh electronic voting machines i.e. EVMs will be used for voting. The commission has also appointed 2,100 observers to monitor the elections.
