Talking to the media, Rohit’s mother said that we had come today to meet the Telangana CM because the report has just been given. CM assured that a fair investigation will be conducted again. The other students who were suspended along with Rohit are also not getting jobs and PhD students are also working in the agriculture sector. Assured to look into those matters also, we are confident that this government will get us justice.
Rohit Vemula died in Hyderabad University in January 2016. Telangana Police was investigating this matter, the closure report of which was submitted before the court. In this report it has been claimed that Rohit was not a Dalit. He kept his identity hidden. Fearing that his identity might be revealed, he committed suicide.
