PM Modi receives warm welcome in Poland, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Poland in the first leg of his two-nation visit. This is also the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the last 45 years. During this, PM Modi was given a warm welcome at Warsaw Airport. PM Modi will be visiting Poland on 21st and 22nd August and after this he will visit Kiev, the capital of war-torn Ukraine on 23rd August. PM Modi’s visit to Poland comes when both the countries are completing 70 years of their diplomatic relations.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal tweeted, “Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Warsaw. This visit is also special because it is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and India. This visit is also historic because The visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland is coming after 45 years. He will soon pay homage to the Good Maharaja Memorial and visit three monuments… The history behind these monuments connects Poland and India in a very special way.
Tomorrow, of course, he will have bilateral meetings with Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He will also meet Polish President Andrzej Duda and thereafter he will meet Polish business leaders to strengthen India-Poland trade relations. The Prime Minister will also meet Indologists and some Kabaddi players to see what the attraction between India and Poland at the people-to-people level is.”
Hundreds of non-resident Indians also arrived in Warsaw to welcome PM Modi. PM Modi also greeted NRIs at the hotel. During this, PM Modi was also seen talking to children of the NRI community in a hotel in Warsaw.

The Prime Minister’s Office has issued a letter giving official information about his visit. The letter quoted the Prime Minister as saying, “My visit to Poland comes at a time when we are completing 70 years of our diplomatic relations. Poland is a major economic partner in Central Europe. Our mutual commitment to democracy and pluralism I look forward to meeting my friend Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to further strengthen our relations.”
PM Modi will visit Ukraine on Zelensky’s invitation
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Ukraine has also been mentioned in this letter. The PMO said that Prime Minister Modi is visiting Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine. After concluding his visit to Poland, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Ukraine’s capital Kiev by train, which will take about 10 hours. The visit is likely to promote continued engagement between India and Ukraine and this will help in laying the foundation of stronger and more vibrant relations between the two countries.
