PM Modi vs Congress on judiciary after lawyers raise flag of ‘vested interest group’
Over 600 lawyers have written to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, alleging that a “vested interest group” is trying to put pressure on the judiciary and defame the courts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress; hours after hundreds of lawyers across the country wrote a letter to Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, alleging that a “vested interest group” was trying to put pressure on the judiciary and trying to defame the Court.

According to the letter, these tactics are particularly evident in cases involving political figures accused of corruption, where efforts to sway court decisions and discredit the judiciary are most pronounced.
PM Modi said that intimidating and threatening others is the ‘old Congress culture’.
“Intimidating and threatening others is the age-old Congress culture,” PM Modi said 5 decades ago itself they had called for a “committed judiciary”- they shamelessly want commitment from others for their selfish interests but desist from any commitment towards the nation.
“No wonder, 140 crore Indians are rejecting him,” he said.
PM Modi’s remarks drew immediate reaction from the Congress leadership, who said the Prime Minister has mastered the art of tampering with democracy and damaging the Constitution.
“The shamelessness of the Prime Minister in conspiring and coordinating attacks on the judiciary in the name of protecting the judiciary is the height of hypocrisy! The Supreme Court has dealt him a severe blow in recent weeks. The electoral bond scheme is an example of this.” The Supreme Court declared them unconstitutional – and it has now been proven beyond doubt that they were a blatant tool of fear, blackmail and intimidation to force companies to donate to the BJP, “senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said while retweeting the PM’s post.
