Her team posted on her official Instagram account about her demise which left everyone in shock and a lot of people were anticipating that her account must be hacked. The shocking news was unbelievable for the film industry, and everyone was perplexed about the news.
The post read, “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared.”

She was last seen in the reality show Lockup season 1 hosted by Kangana Ranaut in 2022. She was a semi-finalist at 7th place.
