Qatar defeated Lebanon 3-0 in the AFC Asia Cup

Qatar defeated Lebanon 3-0 in the AFC Asia Cup in Lusail Stadium. The host was in total control and delivered a dominant performance in front of the home fans. Visitors did not play at their best they delivered a very lackluster performance and were beaten comprehensively by the home side.

Qatar coach Tintín Márquez started with Meshaal Barsham first-choice goalkeeper for the team. Pedro Miguel, Almahdi Ali Mukhtar, and Lucas Mendes in three-man defense. Yousuf Abdurisag plays as a right wing-back and Mohammed Waad plays as a left wing-back. Ahmed Fatehi, Hassan Al-Haydos, and Abdulaziz Hatem play in the mid-field. Akram Afif and Almoez Ali are playing in as forward position.

Lebanon coach Miodrag Radulović started with Mostafa Matar in the goal. Kassem Al Zein, Nour Mansour, and Robert Alexander Melki are playing in defense. Walid Shour, Mohamad Haidar, and Ali Tneich Playing in the mid-field. Nassar plays in the left wing and Hussein Zein in the right wing. Hassan Maatouk and Bassel Jradi playing as center-forward.

First Half

Qatar starts the game with the positive mindset players are clicking with each other. In 6th minute Qatar’s goal was disallowed when Almoez Ali found an offside position. In the 45th minute, Forward Almoez Ali created a chance for Akram Afif who did not waste an opportunity he buried the ball in the Lebanon net there was no chance Mostafa Matar can make a save. Qatar leads 1-0 at the half-time.

Second-Half

In the second half, Lebanon wants to control the pace of the game they are keeping the position of the ball at the beginning of this half. In the 51st minute, the First yellow card of the tournament is shown to Lebanon’s Mohammad Haidar for tackling Ahmed Fatehi from behind while trying to win the ball in Qatar’s half. But Qatar caught them in a Quick counterattack in the 56th minute Mohammed Waad put a beautiful cross in the box with an easy header from the Forward Almoez Ali.

Qatar leads 2-0. In the 57th minute, Qatar coach Tintín Márquez made a couple of changes he brought Moustafa Tarek Mashal and Ismail Mohammad from the bench in place of Hassan Al-Haydos and Yousuf Abdurisag. In the 70th minute, Lebanon coach Miodrag Radulović bring Hasan Srour in place of Walid Srour. Lebanon lost another chance as Hassan Srour gets into a position to shoot on the left following a counter, but his effort was way off target despite from up close.

10 minutes are given for extra time. In the 96th minute, Lebanon’s defensive error led to the third goal Akram Afif scored his second goal of this match. Lebanon tried to score but Qatar’s defensive unit did their job and stopped them from creating something dangerous.

The referee blows the final whistle and Qatar bag all three points with a dominating win. Final score 3-0 Qatar wins the match with big margin. Akram Afif stars with a brace while Almoez Ali assists him once before scoring himself. Qatar had 16 shots of which 5 were on target as compared to Lebanon had 9 shots of which 5 were on target. Qatar had 62% of the possession in this game. Qatar will face Tajikistan on 17 January. Lebanon has a match against China on 17 January in the AFC Asia Cup.
