Qatar Vs Uzbekistan: Qatar Advanced into the Semi-finals

Qatar vs Uzbekistan football match ended with Qatar beating Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals of the AFC Asia Cup on penalties at Al Bayt Stadium. Qatar Advanced into the semi-finals of the AFC Asia Cup. Qatar scored a goal in the first half and Uzbekistan drew levels in them in the second half. 90 minutes ended with a 1-1 scoreline. Both teams failed to score a goal in Extra- time. The defending champions Qatar won 3-2 on penalties and Qualified for the semifinals. Qatar will face Iran on 7th February in the semifinals of the AFC Asia Cup.

Qatar Starting Eleven

Qatar coach Tintín Márquez started with Meshaal Barsham first-choice goalkeeper for the team. Tarek Salman, Almahdi Ali Mukhtar, and Lucas Mendes in three-man defense. Pedro Miguel plays as a right wing-back and Mohammed Waad plays as a left wing-back. Ahmed Fatehi, Hassan Al-Haydos, and Jassem Gaber Abdulsallam play in the mid-field. Srečko Katanec starting eleven was Utkir Yusupov in the goal. Umar Eshmurodov, Rustamjon Ashurmatov, and Abdulla Abdullaev playing as center-backs. Farrukh Sayfiev is in the right-wing back and Azizbek Turgunboev is in the left-wing back position. Odiljon Hamrobekov and Otabek Shukurov in Mid-field. Oston Urunov and Abbosbek Fayzullaev are playing as center-attacking midfielders. Jaloliddin Masharipov is playing as Center-forward. Uzbekistan playing with a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Qatar Vs Uzbekistan: Qatar Beats Uzbekistan on Penalties in Quarter-Finals

First Half

In the early minutes of the first half, Qatar had more ball possession and put pressure on Uzbekistan’s defense line. In the 10th minute, Akram Afif pounced on a long ball from the back line and took a left-footed shot, Utkir Yusupov made a save and pushed the ball away.

In the 27th minute, Hassan Al-Haydos crossed the ball from the right corner of the box, Utkir Yusupov tried to catch the ball but it slipped from his hands and the ball went inside the net. Qatar scored the first goal.

After conceding a goal Uzbekistan tried to find equalizers they came near to score a goal but they wasted their chances. Half-time ended with a 1-0 scoreline. Qatar had a one-goal lead over the visitors.


Second-Half

During the half-time break, both teams did not make any changes they were playing with the same eleven. In the early minutes of the second half, Uzbekistan puts pressure on Qatar’s Defensive line. In the 55th minute, Jaloliddin Masharipov took a shot from 25 yards distance but his shot went wide from the goal.

In the 59th minute, Uzbekistan was on attack ball breaks from outside the area and Odiljon Hamrobekov ran onto it before slotting home. This is his first international goal. Uzbekistan drew with Qatar on level terms.

Uzbekistan trying their level best to score the second goal and it is anyone’s game now. Qatar had a chance at stoppage time Akram Afif’s curling shot went wide from the post. The referee Blew a full-time whistle match went into extra time.

Extra time

In the 94th minute, Abdulaziz Hatem took a shot from the outside of the box his shot hit the crossbar and went wide. The first half of extra time ended with a 1-1.

Uzbekistan and Qatar both desperately looking to score a goal. The defensive unit of both sides did their best to prevent their opponents from scoring. In the 116th minute, Almoez Ali tried to score but his shot went wide. In the last minutes of the extra time, Uzbekistan packed in their box and Qatar controlled the game with ball possession. Extra time ended still there was still no winner. The match went to penalties in search of a winner.

In the 1st round, Otabek Shukurov and Akram Afif Both scored from the spot

In the 2nd round, Rustamjon Ashurmatov and Almoez Ali both missed their penalties.

In the 3rd round, Shokhboz Umarov scored for Uzbekistan, and Almahdi Ali Mukhtar missed a penalty. Uzbekistan Leading in penalties with 2-1

In the 4th round, Zafarmurod Abdurahmatov’s penalty was saved by Meshaal Barsham, Sultan Al-Brake

Scored from the spot. Qatar 2 and Uzbekistan 2 on penalties.

In the 5th round, Jaloliddin Masharipov hit the straight in the middle and Meshaal Barsham made another save. Pedro Miguel scored from the penalty spot. Qatar won the match and Advanced into the semi-finals of the AFC Asia Cup. Qatar will face Iran in the semi-finals of the AFC Asia Cup on 7th February.
