Rahul Gandhi Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Karnataka’s Vijayapura on Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the former has become nervous about the BJP’s prospects in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. While the BJP government made a few people billionaires, the Congress will make crores of people lakhpatis, he added.

“You hear Modi’s speech. He is nervous. In a few days, he will likely tear up,” he said, accusing the prime minister of diverting the attention of the public from the ‘real’ issues.

“He will talk of China, and Pakistan, and ask you to clap or switch on your mobile lights,” Rahul Gandhi said, adding that Modi was silent on issues such as poverty, inflation, and unemployment. Only the Congress can address these issues, Rahul Gandhi told the gathering.

The former Congress president alleged that PM Modi “has looted money from the poor in the last 10 years.”

“Twenty-two people have as much wealth as 70 crore people. One percent of people control 40 percent of the wealth of the country. The money that Modi gave to billionaires; we will give to the poor,” the Congress leader remarked.

Alluding to PM Modi and the BJP, Rahul Gandhi further alleged that a party and a person were trying to end the Indian constitution and democracy. “BJP MPs have said that if they win elections, they will change the Constitution. On the other hand, the Congress party and the INDIA bloc are trying to protect the Constitution and the ideals of (social reformer) Basavanna,” he said.

In the last decade, Modi has helped make 20-25 people billionaires in the country. Ports, airports, defence projects, and solar projects, among others, were handed over to people like Gautam Adani, Rahul Gandhi alleged.
