Randeep Hooda starrer Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is a biopic of revolutionary leader Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The actor is playing the role of Savarkar in the film. Randeep has brought the story of the great leader who gave India independence, about whom people are less aware.
Along with acting, Hooda has also directed and produced the film. He was preparing for this film for many years. Finally now the trailer of the movie is also out.
At the same time, Randeep is a brilliant actor and he has worked hard to get into the character of his film. He has lost 26 kg weight for this film. To lose weight, the actor used to drink only one date and a glass of milk.
Randeep Hooda has done absolute justice to the role of Veer Savarkar. Watching the trailer it becomes clear that he has not played this character but lived it. Randeep shows a glimpse of Savarkar in each scene. Ankita Lokhande also has an important role in the film. She is seen in the role of Yamunabai, Savarkar’s wife.
Randeep Hooda Starrer Swatantrya Veer Sawarkar is all set to release on March 22
Some people are calling Randeep’s film a propaganda film. In such a situation, now the actor himself has broken his silence on this and has responded to it. To this the actor replies that it is an ‘anti-propaganda’ film. This is an anti-propaganda film because of the propaganda that has been run against Savarkar for so many years. Don’t know what names have been given to him.
To break this propaganda, to bring the reality in front of the people, another history of ours which has been blurred. This was to bring it in front of the people. Incidentally, this film is releasing on March 22. I was going to release it on 15th August, on the occasion of Independence Day last year.
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar was such a person, whose fierce intelligence and courage so frightened the British that they locked him in this 7 by 11 feet prison of Kalapani for two lifetimes.
“During the recce of his biopic, I tried to lock myself inside the closet, so that I could feel what he might have gone through. I couldn’t bring myself to stay locked up even for 20 minutes, where he was kept in solitary confinement for 11 years.” He added.

Who was Veer Savarkar?
Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, commonly known as Veer Savarkar, was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement against British rule. Born on May 28, 1883, in the village of Bhagur, near Nashik in Maharashtra, Savarkar was a revolutionary, politician, poet, writer, and social reformer who advocated for the independence of India through armed struggle.
Savarkar was deeply influenced by his nationalist sentiments from a young age. He pursued his studies in India and later went to England to study law, where he became involved with the India House, a hub for Indian student activists. Savarkar was instrumental in inspiring and organizing revolutionary activities against the British Raj from abroad, including the shipment of arms and ammunition to India to fight British forces.
In 1909, Savarkar was arrested for his connections to revolutionary activities, including the assassination of a British official. He was sentenced to two life terms of imprisonment totaling fifty years and was sent to the Cellular Jail in the Andaman Islands, where he underwent severe hardships. His famous escape attempt from the ship S.S. Morea, while it was docked in Marseille, France, is widely remembered, although he was recaptured shortly thereafter.
Savarkar was eventually released from jail in 1924 under strict conditions, after which he focused on social reforms and the promotion of Hindutva through his writings and political activities. He played a role in the establishment of the Hindu Mahasabha, a right-wing Hindu nationalist organization.
Savarkar passed away on February 26, 1966. Today, he remains a figure of veneration for many in India, particularly within certain nationalist circles, while his life and works continue to be a subject of debate and analysis.
