Review of Maharani –season 3: A slow exquisite Mush

Review of Maharani, The third season of Sony Liv’s much-awaited web series ‘Maharani’ is streaming on OTT. The story of this series is from season two onwards in which Rani Bharti has emerged as a big player in the political drama. This time the creator of the series Subhash Kapoor has given the responsibility of direction to Saurabh Bhave who has moved forward with the thinking of Subhash Kapoor. Earlier, Karan Sharma had directed the first season of the web series ‘Maharani’ and Ravindra Gautam had directed the second season.

The story of the web series ‘Maharani Season 3′ starts from where the story of the previous season ended. Rani Bharti has been in jail for three years. Rani Bharti’s political advisor Mishraji repeatedly advises Rani Bharti to come out of jail on bail, but Rani Bharti refuses every time.

Meanwhile, when there is a deadly attack on Rani Bharti’s children, she comes out on bail. Rani Bharti’s opponents think that she is completing her studies while in jail, but under this guise, she prepares her army in jail and after coming out of jail, she not only acquits herself of the charge of murdering her husband. She not only proves this but also defeats her opponents and once again becomes the queen of Bihar politics.

Series creator Subhash Kapoor has written the story of this series along with Nandan Singh and Uma Shankar Singh. The script is tight and the dialogues are interesting. There is a saying that Sun, Moon and Truth can never be hidden, and the entire series revolves around this saying. The story, characters, places, incidents, lifestyle, legal procedures, religious beliefs of this series are all being said to be imaginary, but after watching the series it becomes clear which characters the actors are playing.

The third season is of eight episodes only. This time there is not much to say in the story, the pace of the middle few episodes is very slow. It seems that the story is being dragged forcibly, despite this, the way the social and political developments of Bihar have been presented in this series seem quite interesting.

Huma Quereshi has nailed her character as Rani Bharti whereas the second strongest link of this series is Amit Sial, his acting in the role of Naveen Kumar is good. Apart from Pramod Pathak in the role of political advisor Mishra ji, Atul Tiwari in the role of Governor, Divyendu Bhattacharya, Kani Kushruti, Vineet Kumar and Anuja Sathe have been successful in their respective roles. This time Soham Shah has been seen in only one scene.
