In Iran, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar slams attacks on Indian ships near India. Jaishankar made a bold statement during a press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Jaishankar termed attacks on ships in the vicinity of India a matter of “grave concern.”

Meanwhile, the Iranian minister accused the U.S. and U.K. of escalating tensions in the region and asked the two nations to stop the war against Yemen immediately.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that “We have warned Britain and America to stop the war against Yemen immediately. The high-ranking officials of Sanaa assured us that they would not create any disturbance in the way of maritime security. Senior officials in Sanaa told us that as long as genocide in the Gaza war continues, they will block Israeli ships bound for Israeli port.”

When S. Jaishankar visited Tehran meanwhile Iran strikes missile and drone against Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni militant bases operating in Pakistan, intensifying existing tensions in the tensions in the Middle East. Pakistan labeled the assault, as two children are killed in attack. The strikes add strain to the cautious diplomatic relationship between Iran and nuclear armed Pakistan.

Islamabad warned that the incident could have “serious consequences” and was “completely unacceptable” in a statement released by Pakistan’s foreign office spokesperson in the early hours of Wednesday.

During Tehran visit, S. Jaishankar also had some discussions on energy distribution. India and Iran have engaged in economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. One significant project is the Chabahar Port in Iran, which India has been developing to enhance connectivity and trade links with Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Iran has been a crucial source of energy for India. The two countries have had agreements for the import of Iranian oil and natural gas. However, these ties have been influenced by international sanctions on Iran, affecting India’s energy imports.
