Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series ‘Heeramandi’ premiered in Mumbai.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language television period drama series created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series is about the lives of tawaifs at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series ‘Heeramandi‘ had its premiere in Mumbai on Wednesday, April 24. The event was attended by the who’s who of the film industry, including the show’s cast.

It was attended by several stars Ananya Pandey, Bhumi Pednekar, Rashmika Mandana, Palak tiwari, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur, Kriti Kharbanda, Jasmine Bhasin, Avneet Kaur, Rakul Preet Singh, Genelia Dsouza.

The director also posed for pictures with Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt and Rekha, among others.

In the premiere two episodes were telecasted and now all the stars are giving their positive reviews.  Genelia Dsouza praised about the show whereas Esha Deol adored the role of Fardeen Khan in the show.

It will be streaming on Netflix from May 1

It is an eight-episode series based on the real-life story of courtesans in the red-light district of Lahore’s Heera Mandi during pre-independence India.


The series is also a debut of Sanjay Leela Bhansali on OTT platform. The series is written, created and directed by Sanjay along with Moin Baig, Divya Nidhi Sharma and Mitakshra Kumar.

The main star cast include Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Haidri,  Richa Chadda, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal in pivotal roles. They all are looking damn gorgeous in traditional attire and heavy Jewellery. The series also has Shekhar Suman, Adhyyan Suman, Fareeda Jalal, Fardeen khan, Vaishnavi Gantara in recurring role.
