Saudi Arabia vs South Korea football Match: Saudi Arab is out of the AFC Asia Cup

Saudi Arabia Vs South Korea Football Match ended with South Korea winning the match on penalties 1(4)-1(2). Saudi Arabia is out of the AFC Asia Cup. Saudi Arabia scored a goal early in the second half and South Korea replied late on stoppage time of this match. In extra time both teams did not score any goal. Match went on to Penalties South Korea scored 4 out of 4 and Saudi Arabia only scored 2 out of 4 it’s a heartbreaking loss for the Saudi Arabian team and their fans in the round 16.

Saudi Arabia Starting Eleven

Saudi Arabia’s Coach Roberto Mancini picked Ahmed Al-Kassar as the first-choice goalkeeper. Hassan Altambakti, Ali Lajami, and Ali Albulayhi Played in a three-man defense: Abdullah Al-Khaibari, Nasser Aldawsari, and Mohamed Kanno in a Midfield. Saud Abdulhamid played as right wing-back and Mohammed Alburayk played as Left wing-back. Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari played as a center forward. Roberto Mancini chose an Italian-type formation of 3-5-2.

South Korea Starting Eleven

Jürgen Klinsmann chose a starting eleven, Jo Hyeon-woo in a goal. Kim Min-Jae, Kim Young-gwon, and Jeong Seung-Hyeon are in the center-back position. Seol Young-woo is played on the left wing-back and Kim Tae-hwan is played on the right wing-back position. Hwang In-beom and Lee Jae-sung are in the center midfield position. Jeong Woo-yeong and Lee Kang-in are playing in a center-attacking- midfielder role. Son Heung-min is playing in the center-forward position. Jürgen Klinsmann selected a 3-4-2-1 formation in this match.

Saudi Arabia vs South Korea football Match: South Korea beat Saudi Arabia on penalties to reach Quarter-Finals.

First-half

In the Early Minutes of the game Saudi Arabian team Dominated possession of the game.  South Korean Defensive unit was under pressure after ten minutes passed South Korea took control of the ball and tried to create chances to score a goal.

Both teams looking to keep possession but the Korean side looks more dangerous with the ball as compared to Saudi Arabia. In the 41st minute of the game, Saudi Arabia won the corner, from the corner they hit the crossbar. Korean Goal-Keeper Jo Hyeon-woo with his fingers sent the ball out, almost the home goal.

Second- Half

In the second half, Roberto Mancini brings Abdullah Radif from the bench in place of Saleh Alshehri. In the 46th minute, Salem Aldawsari crossed the ball from the left flank and found Abdullah Radif who scored from the left footed shot from the left side of the box to the bottom right corner.

After scoring the goal Saudi Arabia gained momentum and looked for another goal. For South Korea time was running out they were looking for the attack, but their passing was not up to the mark. 10 minutes were given as stoppage time. In 90+9 minutes of the stoppage time, South Korea was on the attack, Seol Young-woo headed a pass to Cho Gue-Sung who headed from very close range to the high center of the goal. South Korea drew level terms. A full Whistle was blown by the referee full time ended with a 1-1 scoreline Match went into Extra Time

Extra-Time

South Korea dominated possession in the first half of the extra time they looked dangerous but Saudi Arabia held the pressure.

In the Second half, both teams picked up yellow cards they seemed to be tired Saudi Keeper made a save to deny Lee Kang-in who took left left-footed shot in the right bottom corner of the net. Extra time ended the Match and went into the penalties.

In the first round, Mohamed Kanno and Son Heung-min converted their penalty kicks. In round two, Saud Abdulhamid and Kim Young-Gwon scored from a penalty for their respective teams. In round three, Sami Al Naji Right right-footed shot was saved by Jo Hyeon-woo in the bottom left corner. Cho Gue-Sung scored for South Korea from the penalty spot South Korea led 3-2 in penalties. In the fourth Round, Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s right-footed shot was saved by Jo Hyeon-woo in the bottom left corner and Hwang Hee-Chan converted the penalty with a right-footed shot to the top right corner. South Korea won the match on penalties and Advanced into the Quarter-Finals of the AFC Asia Cup.

South Korea will face Australia in the quarter-finals of the AFC Asia Cup on 2nd February 2024.
