SI injured in encounter with gangster in Kathua dies during treatment, got married one and a half year ago.
On Tuesday night, at around 10.30 pm, there was a shootout between police and gangsters in the Government Medical College (GMS) campus of Kathua. Sub Inspector Deepak Sharma was injured in this encounter and died during treatment this morning. In this firing, the police also killed a gangster. The body of sacrificial Deepak has been handed over to his family members.

According to the information, Probationary Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, who was injured in the head during the encounter, died during treatment on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a special police officer was also injured.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of officers chased gangster Vasudev, a police spokesperson said. Vasudev is the main accused in a murder case registered at Ramgarh police station. After which an encounter took place near the Government Medical College Hospital at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday night. He told that in this encounter Vasudev was killed while one of his companions was injured.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma (SI Deepak Sharma) suffered head injuries while 40-year-old Special Police Officer Anil Kumar also suffered injuries. He was initially admitted to GMC Hospital in Kathua and later taken to Amandeep Hospital in Pathankot, the spokesperson said. Deepak Sharma died during treatment on Wednesday.
Deepak Sharma, appointed to the post of Sub Inspector, got married about one and a half years ago. On receiving the news of Deepak’s sacrifice, a wave of grief spread across the area. GMC reached Kathua to take the dead body of Deepak Sharma. His parents, wife and siblings were in bad condition. After post-mortem, SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh Janwal handed over Deepak’s body to the family for last rites.
