War against reservation of PhonePe, An expression from the CEO of online payment app PhonePe became a headache for the Karnataka government. The government had to withdraw the decision of 100% reservation implemented. Now this move of PhonePe is being both opposed and welcomed on social media. The process of Boycott and Support has started.
Karnataka government had implemented 100% reservation in the private sector. Opposing this, Sameer Nigam, CEO of PhonePe company, published a post on X at time 8:48 PM, date Jul 17, 2024. It is written in it, I am 46 years old. Never lived in a state for 15 yrs My father worked in the Indian Navy. Got posted all over the country. His kids don’t deserve jobs in Karnataka? I build companies. Have created 25000 jobs across India! My kids’ don’t deserve jobs in their home city? Shame.

There is not only PhonePe office in Bengaluru but there are huge offices of hundreds of MNCs. It is because of these companies that Bengaluru has gained international recognition and the Karnataka government benefits greatly from this. People from India and abroad work in all these companies. The decision of 100% local reservation will affect the functioning of all companies. Therefore everyone supported the statement of PhonePe CEO and the government had to withdraw the decision.
Now those people who want to improve their lives through reservation and not merit are angry with PhonePe and are complaining on social media.
On the other hand, not only in Karnataka but with #SupportPhonePe across the country, people are opposing reservation on the basis of caste and location. People say that whatever was done in Sameer Nigam was absolutely right. If someone uninstalls there then we will download it here. Reservation in the country should be only on economic basis. Only poor citizens have the right to reservation in government jobs and education. There should be no reservation in private sector.
